How much fun is Halloween now that we have little people to dress up!? I have at least 4 costumes in mind for Luke (but will probably only pull off one)… but I’m so excited for my little human dress up doll. Now – where to take him on my shoestring budget?

Family Halloween Carnival
Saturday, October 18th from 12-4:30pm, Manhattan Heights Park
The Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Department‘s annual Family Halloween Carnival is held every October at Manhattan Heights Community Center located at 1600 Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The event is designed for children ages 2 to 13. Children under the age of 5 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Past carnivals have included face painting, haunted house, food and game booths, and much, much more! Costume Contest & Parade at 12:00!
Sea Scare at the Cabrillo Aquarium
Saturday, October 25th 6pm – 9pm Pre-Sale: $1 Kids $5 for Adults Pre purchase tickets here to avoid lines. At the Door: $3 Kids, $7 Adults
See the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium transformed into an underwater world of chills, thrills and gills. Come in costume and join in the masquerade of spooks and ghouls, trick-or-treat throughout the aquarium at treat stations, enjoy loads of fun and spooky entertainment.

READY, SET, GO! Gather your family and friends and get your little pumpkins to the 24th Annual World Famous Pumpkin Race Festival. Enjoy the spectacle of the Manhattan Beach Pier area transformed into Pumpkin Race Land, where creativity runs wild and cheaters never prosper. Dress in colorful costumes, enjoy fun activities for all ages, make your own pumpkin race car and feel the thrill of competing in the fun-spirited World Famous Pumpkin Race. The 24th Annual World Famous Pumpkin Race Festival will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Manhattan Pier beginning at 12:00 PM for what promises to be the most fun and unusual Halloween event your family has ever experienced! The day long Downtown Halloween Festival and Pumpkin Race will be filled with fun, excitement, surprises and laughter for all ages.
The LA Zoo is having events on 10/18, 10/19, 10/25 and 10/26 from 10am – 4pm – Free with paid admission to the Zoo. Zoo admission online is $19 per adults ($16 for seniors 62+) & kids under 2 are free. Think you might go to the zoo more than once this year? Check out the membership packages – for example the Individual Plus is $75, and includes free unlimited admission for one adult & one additional person (kids are still free and don’t count!). They also have a variety of Family passes.
The Boo At The Zoo Event Activities include trick-or-treating, jack-o-lantern carving demonstrations, strolling characters and magicians, crafts, interactive musical entertainment, and up-close encounters with creepy, crawly, and slimy creatures. Even some of our animals will join in the fun, with seasonal treats all their own.

Halloween Carnival at Wilson Park

The City of Torrance Community Services Department invites the public to enjoy the annual Halloween Carnival on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson Park, 2200 Crenshaw Blvd. The Carnival is a safe, family friendly alternative to trick-or-treating and will feature games, crafts, a photo area, spooky music by DJ Ozzie and costume parade taking place at 6:30 p.m. You can even stop by and check out the pumpkin decorating contest where 15 After School Club sites submit their most creative pumpkin decorations. Unlimited use wristbands are $9.00 per child and are required to participate in a variety of carnival activities that participants can win candy and prizes playing. Food trucks will be on site and available at an additional charge. The event will take place, rain or shine. Pets are not allowed at this event.
