DIY Twin Day Bed: Powertools Not Required
I knew I wanted some seating/additional sleeping space in Luke’s nursery. But I am not a fan of traditional beds and I tried a futon (but ended up returning it because it was super uncomfortable). I also wanted something that I could re-purpose if I needed to and that Luke could use when he gets a little older. So naturally, I turned to Pinterest for inspiration. I saw a variation of this on an Ikea Hack Board. It was missing something I thought was important; a headboard, so I added it and voila! Here’s my easy to assemble, easy to dissemble and re-purpose version of a Day Bed.
Items Needed: 2 Ikea Single Shelves for $60 each, a Twin Mattress (I bought a Signature Sleep for a little over $100), Ikea Twin Mattress Slatted Support for around $20, and a board (cut to your preferred size) for the headboard. I actually found a desk top in the Ikea clearance As Is section that I’m using. I fully intent to add padding and fabric to this at some point.
